What are the Arrearage Management Programs (AMP) programs?

AMP programs are payment plans for clients who have past due balances on utility bills and would like to get credit from the utility company (up to $1,000 forgiveness off the past due amount) for making their monthly payments, while working to eliminate the past due balance.

How Do They Work?

1. Your last 12 months usage is used to determine your average monthly bill (this is how the level payment plan is set)
2. The total forgiveness amount is subtracted from your past due balance (this is how the past due payment is set)
3. Now you know your fixed monthly payment with no more surprises (payment plans run from 12 months to 36 months)
4. The Utility company will reward you for staying on track with forgiveness credits toward your original past due balance (these credits will occur monthly or bi-annually depending on the company)

How do I Qualify?

1. You must be eligible for the discounted rate or household income cannot exceed 200% of federal poverty level and customer of record on the utility account
2. You must have a past due balance and have maintained some payment history on the utility account
3. You must be able to commit to and stay with the payment plan
