Appliance Management ProgramIf your refrigerator or freezer is a high energy guzzler, National Grid may replace it for free.  You must have lived in your place of residence for nine months, have an R-2 rating on your bill, and use more than 10 KWH per day to be eligible.  An energy manager will review your electric usage, especially your refrigerator.  The energy manager will bring energy saving light bulbs and water conservation devices and inform you of how you can save on your electric bill.  Note: You may be a homeowner or renter to be eligible.

The Worcester Community Action Council currently has contracts with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the major local utility companies to install energy conservation measures in low-income homes throughout Central and Southern Worcester County.  Each home receives an in-depth inspection by a certified energy auditor to assess conservation needs and the safety and efficiency of the primary heating system. Areas needing improvement are rectified if the home and the occupant meet the criteria of one or more programs outlined below. All work is subject to the availability of funding.
